Social Listening

From the beginning, we had an unspoken rule to follow writers, bloggers, authors, people in the industry and other twitter accounts that impact publishing, writing, blogging, storytelling or things we find interesting but relevant. If you take a look at our followers on Twitter, you will see we followed our rule. We confess, we love to read, learn new things and share ideas.

We are in the business of listening and telling great stories. Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or some other social network to come, will serve as just one way for us to listen. We follow and read tweets, Facebook posts, blogs and websites not to raise our Klout score or to be on a ‘Top Ten List’. We must have a pulse on the industry and storytellers so we must follow people to be great listeners.

Our numbers will always be skewed towards following and listening to those who have an impact on us. Monitoring our social network is hard but if we are true to our ethos of doing something remarkable we must be remarkable in how we do it.

As the song by U2 goes, “I Will Follow You.” Rhizome Publishing will strive to be great listeners first.
